SASUKE (Naruto) Photoshop Tutorial

Learn how to create a text just like the anime series NARUTO with this easy to use Adobe Photoshop tutorial (note, this tutorial was created for version CS/8, but should work for the later older versions). Before you begin, remember to download the Ninja Naruto font.

Before you begin, know that there is NaruTxtGen, a generator that will do all of this work for you (but the quality may not be as good).

Create a new document in Photoshop with a transparent background, of any size that you may need (for this tutorial, 328x199 pixels will be used for the dimensions).

Now, with the text tool, pick the Ninja Naruto font, and type only one character (like just S in Sasuke). If you want to make the font rough, turn off anti-aliasing for the text. Open the Blending Options dialog (right click the layer and select Blending Options), and apply a Gradient Overlay (make it fade from #F0AF23 to #EF0E29). Then, apply a white Stroke. Continue the same thing for the rest of the letters, creating a new text layer for each letter, and positioning them so the letters are not touching, but the borders / strokes are overlapping.

Then, rasterize every letter by right clicking each text layer and selecting Rasterize.
After you're done with that, go to the Layer menu, and select Merge Visible.
All the layers should now be only one layer, and to look similar to this (the white border can not be seen in the following example due to this page's background):
Now, go to the Blending Options dialog for that one layer, and add a drop shadow (you may want/need to adjust the distance depending on your text size), and a stroke (you may want/need to adjust the size depending on your text size). Now, you should end up with something similar to the following:
You may additionally want to add a pinkish spiral, and some small red text in the corner if you wish, but that is not explained in this tutorial. With a spiral (using the color #F551A6), and some small text (using the color #FF0000 and also the font Impact with Horizontal Scale set at 120%), the following is an example (the spiral doesn't look very spiral-ish because I accidentally made circles instead, but you can do better, right?):

Special Instructions for a Spiral: Okay, if you do not wish to draw your own spiral, I have compiled this spiral template PSD (only tested in Photoshop CS) that you can use as a template for your own logo. It has two spirals, the original [crooked] one I made and one created by Syko. Download it, drag one of the spirals to your own logo, and resize as needed.

Create a Cartoon Effect From a Photo in Photoshop

will have to say that this is one of the easiest tutorials ever. Just a couple of clicks away and you are done. I did a little bit of research on this and it seemed that so many of the tutorials for creating a cartoon effect were terribly over engineered. There are so many sites and books showing how to do all of these type of things. My philosophy on photoshop projects is to keep things as simple as possible. That being said, it certainly can depend on the picture. Some pictures will do better than others with this technique. Some photos will do better with different settings than I have here. As always, you will just have to play around with settings until you have it the way you want it.

This is the picture I will begin with.
Now we will just need to apply a simple filter to create our cartoon style drawing. From the file menu click Filter/Artistic/Poster Edges. Depending on which version of Photoshop you are using, you should come up with something that looks like the picture below. The settings shown are what I used to for this particular project. I just cranked everything all the way up. As stated before, you may need to play around with some of the settings here to achieve the cartoon effect you are looking for. Click OK.
One thing to keep in mind is how big the picture is, and what the resolution is. These things will affect how the picture responds to different settings of the filter. This picture started out at 3456x2304 at a resolution 72 pixels/inch. Enjoy!!

Here are the before and after shots. For a larger image of the finshed cartoon picture, click here.

How To Paint A Car [Subaru]

The blue color Subaru WRX above may not appeal to all tastes. I kindda like it but I’m sure other colors will be nice too so let’s try changing them or proposed it to Subaru. Choose Image/Adjust/Replace Color to get started.

By default, the Replace Color dialog shows a monochrome view of what’s being selected (White’s active, Black’s not). Now click on the body of the Subaru and you will noticed that the region of that color becomes selected. Try changing the Hue, the images changes to reflect that, as seen in the image below (greenish)

Now here’s the result of our initial change. It really doesn’t matter if it is a ugly green Subaru at this stage. Go for something bright, the aim here is to see it’s change/affect.
To add more colors. hold on the SHIFT key and click on the unchanged area (all the blue color on the Subaru), or
drag to select a range of colors. That range will be added to the selection and the color will change the image. To remove a selection added accidentally, hold ALT while clicking to select the color.
Keep on adding the color until you have the entire blue Subaru changed to green color. One way to increase the range of colors changed is to raise the Fuzziness value; but this will draw unwanted colors in the surrounding area.

Now when you are sure the whole body is selected, change the Hue, drag and move it around until you get the color you want. Toggle the Fuzziness as well if you want. I end up with a gold color Subaru WRX.
